Studio Policy
Schedule:
The piano schedule will follow the Pennsylvania school year calendar. Students are expected to continue lessons throughout the summer. However, a flexible summer schedule will be arranged in June, July and August to accommodate family vacations and other summer activities. Holidays that will be observed are Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, New Year's Day, Memorial Day and July 4th. The studio will remain open on all other holidays.
Make-up lessons:
Make-up lessons will only be given if the student notifies the studio at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson date. A maximum of 2 make-up lessons will be allowed per year and will be scheduled on a Saturday morning in December and May. If a student wants to request an online lesson for any reason, the studio needs to be informed by noon of the day of the lesson. There will also be 2 group Playing Classes scheduled in October and February which will serve as an additional makeup lesson for any student who has missed a lesson from September-December or January-May. Refunds will not be made for any lessons missed. Any lessons cancelled for any reason by the studio (illness, schedule conflict, inclement weather) will be rescheduled.
Tuition:
Tuition will be billed on a monthly basis and is due by the 10th of each month. If tuition is not paid at that time, the student will not be allowed to take his/her lesson until the balance is paid. During the summer months of June, July and August tuition will be pro-rated to accommodate your summer activities. Payments may be made by cash or check. The studio does not require a long term contract, but it does require a 30 day notice from the student to terminate piano lessons.
30 minute private lessons are recommended for students from the ages of 5-7. Daily practice of 20-30 minutes is required.
45 minute private lessons are recommended for students from the ages of 8 through adults. Daily practice of 30-45 minutes is required.
60 minute private lessons are recommended for adult students and students of advancing levels with a teacher recommendation. Daily practice of 60 minutes or more is required.
An annual registration fee will be charged for each student in addition to the monthly studio fee. Contact the studio directly for more information on fees.
Instruments:
The studio requires all students to have an instrument in the home that they can practice on daily. A piano that is in good condition and properly tuned is preferable. However, if a keyboard is the only instrument available it must meet the following requirements. It must be no less than 88 weighted keys (including the black keys). It must also have a stand, a music rack, a damper pedal and a bench. This is critical to the learning process.
